What Customers Say About The Vegetable Gardener's Bible: Discover Ed's High-Yield W-O-R-D System for All North American Gardening Regions:

This book is incredilby informative. It's great to see that organic methods are front and center. Not to mention the induviualize plant by plant rundown is perfect. Definitly recomended.

What sets this apart from other garden guides is its attention to detail, complete with photos and illustrations. The "plant directory" is a true standout in the gardening book genre. This is truly a must-own for any gardener. (Frankly, the same can be said of this book). Between the superb blend of written explanation, drawings, and bullet points, the author truly covers all your gardening bases.Reviewed by Amber K. First, the narrative explains the case. Finally, there are step-by-step instructions for using this tool, including sidebar best-practice tips.

This section alone will lead new gardeners to success. //A Vegetable Gardener's Bible// is an in-depth guide covering everything you need to know: where to plant your garden, soil, seeds, diseases, and details on specific veggies from artichokes to thyme. Not only does it provide tips on sowing and growing, but more importantly, it tells you how to harvest when ripe, complete with photos. For instance, the section on cold frames begins with the author's personal insight, "A cold frame is one of those tools I didn't know I needed until I got one" (page 62). Next, you'll find instructions on how to build one of your own. With this guidebook, you aren't left guessing. Stott

I found that I need to cross reference most of his timing, covering, mulching guidance with California growing books. I loved this book. That said, the pictures are AWESOME, his writing style is great -- I sort of feel like I'm sitting in his kitchen enjoying a cup of coffee while he explains - carefully, gently, and kindly -- all that I need to know to get started. Really, really loved it. My only challenge is that Smith wrote it very much from a Vermont (short growing season) perspective. I'm now pretty intimidated by all the seeds I just ordered (that all need their own specific care). but this book will guide me well.

Others may already know about those things but will probably find plenty of new information. I got 4 of those.

I refer to it often and I have a HUGE library of gardening books. I'm a not-so-experienced, but very "creative" and daring gardener.

This is an excellent reference book for me. I learned about cold frames and found information that helped me choose a commercial plant box.

I like to challenge the rules and make things grow in months when they would traditionally not grow. The idea of raised beds intrigued me and was worth the price of the book.

I learned about minimum/maximum thermometers and water testers, and much more. I am so much more knowledgeable than I was before I read this book cover to cover.

If you are a seasoned gardener or just starting out you will want to get this book.
